How to sleep better

We all need to sleep. In fact, we spend around one-third of our lives asleep! What’s more, studies into sleep have revealed that a good night’s sleep is important for our general health. When we sleep soundly, it gives our bodies a chance to recover so that we can concentrate and think clearly. Getting enough sleep also contributes to a positive state of mind. A night of poor sleep can lead to tiredness, difficulty concentrating and irritability.

What can you expect from this programme?

Sleep is a natural function, but it is nonetheless miraculous - we close our eyes and drift off to another world which we experience subconsciously. A world of snoring, sleep-walking, wonderful dreams and nightmares. While sleeping is easy and pleasurable for some, for others it is a struggle. Perhaps you are familiar with the feeling of lying awake at night for hours, staring at the ceiling. Maybe you lie in bed wide awake and trapped in a spiral of worrying thoughts, or you cannot sleep through the night because you wake up repeatedly for the slightest reason.

If you are not satisfied with your sleep pattern, you are not alone. A 2019 study by the brain foundation and the Trimbos institute revealed that 63% of Dutch people are not satisfied with the quality of sleep they get. Sleeping well is something everybody wants to achieve, but how should you go about it? That is a very good question.

OpenUp would like to give you some tips!
