Believe in Yourself

We all know that believing in ourselves and our strengths is a good thing, but for some of us it can be a challenge. At some point you have probably experienced feelings of uncertainty or self-doubt. You are not alone - we all feel insecure from time to time.

What can you expect from this programme?

These days, it is not difficult to find ways to fuel any insecurities we may have. We live in a world where comparison with others is a part of daily life - from polished images of perfect lives on social media and carefully photoshopped pictures in magazines to boastful Linkedin success stories, opportunities to compare ourselves with others around us are abundant. And while comparison with others is something we all tend to do, we are comparing ourselves to a distorted version of reality. We all feel insecure from time to time, but insecurity is not always easy to recognise in others. This - consciously or subconsciously - influences the way in which we view ourselves and others and can have an impact on our self-image.

If you feel insecure, you may feel extra pressure to meet expectations - both those imposed upon yourself and those imposed upon you by others. When we experience this pressure, some of us react by overcompensating, while others may retreat with themselves. But do we even need to meet all these expectations? This is an important question - after all, the definition of ‘good’ can differ hugely from one person to the next.

It is important to be true to yourself and to believe in your own strengths and desires. But this is not always straightforward! ‘Am I really good enough?, ‘I’ll never manage to do this!’ - are these thoughts familiar to you? Regardless of what is causing your insecurity, it can be a real drain on your energy. It is a natural human need to feel that we are ‘good enough’, that we are contributing and that we belong. That is why we all try to do our best.

This programme will help you to gain insight into your self image. We will be asking you to challenge negative thoughts about yourself, allowing you to view yourself in a kinder light. If you would like to talk to one of our online psychologists about this, please make an appointment for an initial consultation (without obligation).
